Where else to find nursing scholarships
- Your school’s financial aid office — institutional awards often have the fewest applicants.
- Federal aid (FAFSA) — required for most need-based aid in the U.S.; some federal programs also fund nursing students who commit to serve in shortage areas.
- Professional associations — national and state nursing associations, specialty organizations, and student nurse associations offer annual awards.
- Your employer — many hospitals offer tuition reimbursement or loan repayment for nurses who commit to stay.
- Community foundations & service clubs — local awards with smaller applicant pools.
Tip: reuse a strong core essay, but tailor the first and last paragraphs to each funder’s mission.
